Suellen Kay (Wigant) Dixon, 79, of Salt Lake City, Utah, returned to her Father in Heaven and the arms of her eternal companion on Sept. 18, 2021.
Sue was born on July 13, 1942 to Walter “Otto” Bartz and Evelyn Robinson Wigant in Rochester, Minnesota and was later adopted by her step-father, Vern Wigant Sr. She grew up on a small farm near Austin, Minnesota and was the eldest of seven children.
After high school her next objectives were to serve her Church and to serve her country. She was called to the Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Mission and the Eastern Atlantic States Missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She then volunteered for the United States Army and was stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama where she excelled as a personnel interviewer.
It was there where she met her sweetheart, Jeff Woodrow (Woody) Dixon Jr. who on their first date asked if there was any chance that she would marry him. She responded “You can try.” They were engaged three weeks later on Halloween, and were married on December 21, 1966 in the Logan, Utah Temple. They lovingly welcomed two sons, Timothy Sterling Dixon and Jeff Woodrow Dixon III into their home.
Sue was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served diligently in many Church callings throughout her life. She made many dear friends during the nearly 50 years they resided in the Rose Park North Stake 8th Ward
Sue helped Woody run the family automotive business for nearly 30 years. Sue was also a wonderful homemaker. She was highly skilled at many handicrafts, as well as a fantastic cook, and was her sons’ biggest supporter in their academic, musical, and athletic endeavors. She loved to read, complete crossword and sudoku puzzles, and cheer on BYU Football.
Sue is survived by her sons, Timothy Sterling Dixon (Traci) and Jeff Woodrow Dixon III; Grandsons, Jake Dixon, Tanner Dixon, and Trevor Dixon; Siblings Calvin Wigant, Nancy Carroll, Joyce Wigant, Helen Cisernos and Vern Wigant Jr., along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
