On February 6th, 2020, Steven “Steve” Ray Hooton passed away peacefully at the age of 69 surrounded by his family.
Steve was born March 30th, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah to James and Doris (Waters) Hooton. He graduated from West High School. Steve was blessed with many close and lifelong friends. It was through one of those friendships that he met his companion in life, Beverly Olsen. They married in 1973 and settled in Taylorsville, Utah with their three children.
He made his career in construction and lumber products, both in management and sales. He had an incredible work ethic, going above and beyond for his customers. When not working, you could find him working hard in his yard, you can literally putt golf balls on his front lawn.
Steve had a powerful and humorous personality that impacted everyone he met. He was quick-witted and always ready with a joke or quip to make everyone feel better. He was the number one fan of his grandchildren, avid golf buddy with his sons, and endless protector of his daughter. He loved camping and being in the outdoors with his family and friends. Most importantly, he was a selfless soul who would give anything he had to those he loved.
Steve is survived by his wife Beverly, children; Troy (Amanda) Hooton, Heather (Chris) Baker and JD (Summer) Hooton. Grandchildren; Braden, Cody, Tanner, Dayton, Brooklyn, Kennadi, Braxton, Ashlyn, and Camden. Siblings; Leo (Joan) Hooton and Margie (Dave) Heinze. Mother-in-law; Melba Olsen. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, brother James (Deloy) Hooton, and father-in-law, Donald Olsen.
