Steven “Steve” David Morgan, 64 was born May 11th, 1960, on Mother’s day to Gloria Leon Hernandez Morgan in SLC, UT. He passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, at his home in West Jordan, UT.
Steve grew up in Granger, UT. He loved everything motorcycle, dirt bike, & car related. He wrestled in school & was a little too smart for his own good, being double promoted in elementary school. He had to retake an SAT test in front of the school’s superintendent because he did so well on the math portion of the test without showing work. Steve briefly attended the University of Utah alongside his mom after early graduation from high school.
In 1982 he met the love of his life at work, Lorie Jean Durrant. They married on December 1, 1984. In 1986 they welcomed their daughter, Chelsea Jean & in 1992 their daughter Kileigh Anna. Being a girl dad was his biggest accomplishment, even if it meant he went to the grocery store a few times with some forgotten pink barrettes in his hair. He was blessed to be surrounded by women, with 3 of the 5 family dogs being female too.
Steve was happiest with a fishing pole in his hand, one time trying to get the F.B.I. to let him keep fishing while they were looking for two escaped prisoners. He loved to camp & four wheel. His yard was his pride & joy. If he wasn’t outside doing something or taking a nap, he was watching tv. He loved his New Orleans “Aints” but cheered just a bit louder for Lorie’s Kansas City Chiefs.
Steve was an animal lover. One time preforming CPR on a pet chicken & always being the one to bail the dogs out of “doggy jail”. We know he was greeted with kisses from his dogs Ruffy, Chloe, & Cole. He loved so many of his daughters’ friends like they were his own kids. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone. He never met a stranger. He was a handy man at heart, even being confused for “Al”, from the tv show “Home Improvement” from time to time. He loved to tinker around the house & set up “battles” of his 1:18 scale soldiers. He worked for Fairchild (National) Semiconductor for 35 years where he made many lifelong friends.
Steve did his best to find the positivity & humor in everything. Anytime was a good time for an impromptu dance party, sing a long, or being goofy. He had a big tender heart with a sometimes tough & stubborn exterior. He loved to bring family & friends together for a BBQ or party at his home.
Steve is survived by his wife, Lorie, daughters, Chelsea (Levi), Kileigh, his beloved dogs he referred to as his “kitty cats”, “little man” Moose, “baby girl” Ruby, sister Yvonne Patton, brother Gregg Erhard, brothers in law Cornell Woods, Roger (Connie) Durrant, Robert (Paula) Durrant, Clairon Durrant, sisters in law Kathy (Max) Smith, Trudy (Kelly) Hudson, & so many beloved nieces & nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his mother, Gloria, brother Robert “Bob” Morgan, sister Kathy Woods, mother & father-in-law Betty & James Durrant.
A celebration of life will be held at Steve’s home (8532s 3310w West Jordan UT, 84088) on December 14, 2024. Open house from 2pm to 8pm. Please wear your favorite sweatpants or Hawaiian shirt. A small private family service will be held November 13, 2024.
