Steven Lloyd Craven, 65, of Dallas Texas, passed away peacefully at his home December 24th, 2017, surrounded by his brother, sister-in-law, and several dear, loving friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 25th, 1952, in Ogden, Utah, to Jack and Helen Craven.
The Craven family moved from Ogden to Bountiful, Utah in the summer of 1957. Steve graduated from Bountiful High School in 1970. He moved to Houston, Texas in 1978 to work in a startup advertising company. Eventually Steve went to work for Nieman Marcus in Houston as a visual display designer. He loved his work and his coworkers and quickly advanced to assistant manager, then manager and several years later took a senior management position in Nieman’s corporate office in Dallas, Texas. Steve retired from Nieman’s in June of 2017 after an illustrious 38-year career in which he was able to express his creative talents in visual display and his remarkable gift of building positive relationships.
Steve loved to ski and traveled home to Bountiful as often as he could to ski with his family at Alta, Utah, his favorite ski resort.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Helen Craven and two older brothers, Clive, and Richard Craven. He is survived by his next older brother, Robert Craven (Kathy) of Bountiful, Utah, and loving nieces and nephews.
Many friends and co-workers from the Dallas area gathered and shared their memories of Steve in his home in Dallas, Texas, December 26th ,2017.
Steve desired and prearranged for a green burial and graveside service at Lake View Memorial Cemetery in Bountiful, Utah. A memorial celebration for Craven family members will be held prior to his interment.
The family wants to thank the many close friends of Steve that stayed and provided tender, kind, and loving care and support for Steve throughout his battle with cancer and especially the last weeks of his life.
