Steven Diamond

October 5, 1941 — October 25, 2015

Steve was born in Salt Lake City on Oct. 5, 1941 to Thomas Austin Diamond and Helen Parker Diamond. He was blessed with peace on Oct. 25, 2015 at 11:43 AM after a five year struggle with health issues.
Steve attended public & private schools in Salt Lake City graduating from West High School in 1959. After several colorful and interesting “Jobs” he got hired by the Salt Lake City Police Department and for the next 40 years he served the citizens of Salt Lake City, retiring as a Lieutenant in 2002.
Steve was a history maniac – he loved Salt Lake City history and particularly that of the police department. Part of this love was sparked by the murder of his great, great grandfather, Marshal Andrew Hill Burt in Aug. 1883. Steve shared that love of police department history with Judy and his friends Robert Kirby and Lt. Michael Ross.
He was a kind and generous man who loved his life as a police officer and he was proud of his service and during his life made many friends from work and also friends from his school days that he remained in touch with.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas A. Diamond, sister Sally Ann Diamond, and daughter, Kathy D. Steadman. He is survived by his wife, Judy of Salt Lake City, his son Steven W. (Connie), Sandy, UT., daughter Bonnie D. Brooks (Todd), South Jordan, UT., son Aaron (Hilary), Phoenix, AZ., brother Michael (Dorothy), Escondido, CA., brother Rocky (Barbara, Hemet, CA; and his mother, Helen Diamond, Escondido, CA., twelve grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of his life gathering on Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 1:30PM to 4PM at the Public Safety Building, 475 South 300 East, SLC, Utah where friends and family may come to share memories and a few laughs while remembering the good times. In keeping with Steve’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. He will be interred in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
A separate remembrance will be held in the St. George area in December. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to one of the following charities, The Humane Society of Utah, Shelter Fund, 4242 South Commerce Way, Murray, UT 84107; Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd., Kanab, UT 84741 or MIAP.US (Utah Chapter) Missing In America Project – Veteran Recovery Project.
