Steven Craig Pearson

Steven Craig Pearson, age 73, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on November 15th, 2021. Craig was born January 11th, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George and Dorothy Pearson. Growing up, he worked at his dad’s service station and developed a love of cars. He had an appreciation for old Fords and Shelby Cobras. He graduated from Granger High School in 1966 and served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southwest British Mission from 1967 to 1969. After his mission he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served on active duty for two years. He served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot for a year during the Vietnam war and continued serving in the National Guard for an additional 4 years.
Craig married Vicki Drecksel in the Salt Lake Temple on March 6th, 1970. Together they raised 4 boys and 3 girls.
Craig enjoyed serving others. He served as bishop of the West Jordan 4th ward along with many other callings and loved plowing snow with his tractor. He enjoyed bowling, flying, and trips to Disneyland with his family.
Craig is survived by his wife, Vicki Pearson; children: Steve (Elizabeth) Pearson, Christy (Terrance) Osborn, Shannon (Travis) Tingey, Cody (Nikki) Pearson, Chet (Michelle) Pearson, Eric (Shalise) Pearson, and Angela (Conner) Ritchie; 21 grandchildren; his brother Eric (Gwen) Pearson; and a sister Diane (Phil) Cushing. Preceded in death by his parents and his sister Ranae Burt.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 12:30 PM with a viewing two-hours prior beginning at 10:30 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Parkway 6th Ward, 3407 West 9625 South, South Jordan, Utah 84095. An evening viewing will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123. Interment will follow the services at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery.
