Stella L Steiner

September 11, 1938 — January 19, 2020

Stella Steiner passed away on January, 9, 2020 in Murray, Utah. She was born on September 11, 1938.
Stella went on a mission, served in the United States Navy, then married her husband and had children. Our mother was different from most mothers. She had schizophrenia, a “mental disorder of a type involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion, and behavior, leading to faulty perception, inappropriate actions and feelings, withdrawal from reality and personal relationships into fantasy and delusion, and a sense of mental fragmentation.” And Capgras Syndrome, a physical condition. It’s also known as “imposter syndrome” or “Capgras Delusion.” People who experience this syndrome will have an irrational belief that someone they know of recognize has been replaced by an imposter. Both slowly progressed over the years, which generally meant most of our neighbors and friends truly didn’t know how hard life was for her, or us, or her family. She saw the world differently. She acted differently. She was our mother and loved us in her own way. Sometimes, she would remember us, and those were truly great days. Other days her mind had a different train of thought that detached her from reality, and from her family.
Her last few the Veteran Affairs got her into Golden Living, after her house caught fire. This was a blessed event, because she was in a place where she had all her stress relived and she became herself a little more often, and remembered her family just a bit more. It was incredible when she came back to, even just for a few minutes.
Stella is preceded in death by her husband, August H. Steiner. She is survived by her children, Audrey E. Steiner Collins, Christopher M. Steiner, Sonya J. Steiner, Sarah E. Steiner, and John T. Steiner, her grandchildren, Jericho J. J. Steiner, Krystal L. Adams, Louden C. F. Steiner, Amber L. Adams and Burt (Ray Ray) R. Colbert.
