Stanley R. De Waal

January 10, 1935 — April 8, 2021

Stanley Remmelt de Waal age 86 died on April 8, 2021 at his home in Herriman, UT surrounded by his wife of 64 years and his five children. He was born on January 10, 1935 in Rotterdam, Holland to Adrianus and Annechien de Waal.
Stan married Patsy Jane Peterson on November 30, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Stan graduated from LDS Business College and the University of Utah.  He was a successful CPA, working for the IRS, H&R Block and eventually opening his own CPA firm, de Waal, Keeler and Company.
Stan was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He served in many callings including bishop, bishop councilor, high council, and faithful home teacher and minister. He served many years in the young mens and scouting programs and loved the many adventures he had with the boys. He especially loved it when his son Chris was in young mens and scouting and they had lots of quality time together.  He served with his wife with the addiction recovery mission and the Laie, Hawaii temple visitor center.
Stan was very active in life he played soccer and is in the Utah Soccer Hall of Fame.  He has ran many marathons, has had a few 300 games at bowling, and loved to golf.  He loved fishing, nature, yard work, Real Salt Lake, the Utah Jazz, University of Utah sports, BYU sports, any Utah related sports.  He loved traveling, playing cards, the Tabernacle Choir, musicals, plays, the Utah Symphony and many other things.  He was from Holland and loved his heritage. Being raised in Holland during WWII it was a struggle.  US soldiers rescued him and his family during WWII and because of this he was very patriotic and loved America
Stan was the treasurer for the Utah Republican party for several years as well as campaign treasurer for Senator Hatch, Senator Bennett, Governor Leavitt and Governor Huntsman.
Stan is survived by his wife of 64 years, 5 children Karen (Rick) Cunningham, Lori (Clark) Barton, Tracy (Kelly) Denney, Chris de Waal, Susan Walker, 1 brother Archie (Jenny) de Waal, 17 grandkids, 18 great grandkids with 1 on the way, 1 sister-in-law Diane Peterson, and many extended family members.
Stan is preceded in death by parents, 2 sisters, 3 brothers-in-law, and 1 sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at the Hillcrest 5th Ward, 915 East Peach Blossom Dr. Sandy, Ut 84094 on Friday April 16, 2021 at 11:00.  There will be a viewing at the church Thursday April 15, 2021 from 6 – 8 pm as well as 9:30 – 10:30 am the day of the funeral.
The family would like to thank Nickson and Rosa with Dignity Hospice care.  They gave our family the best treatment anyone who is facing this hard time could give.
Interment done by Memorial Estates 6500 S. Redwood Rd. West Jordan, UT 84123.
