Stanley Elwood Mahy, apartment owner and manager in San Francisco, CA died of natural causes at 90 years of age. Stanley was born March 27, 1925 in Oakland, CA to Clyde Mahy and Evelyn Grimmins. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dixie Lee Ranck Mahy (graduated from Granite High School in 1952 and the University of Utah in 1956). Stanley graduated from the Maritime Academy in Alameda, CA and sailed the world for 10 years, including during WWII as an AB Quartermaster. He has owned and managed apartments for the past 63 years. He was compassionate for animals and served as Chairman for Pets and Pals, a humane organization for 25 years. He also served as a Board Member of the San Francisco Vegetarian Society for 30 years and as a Commissioner for the San Francisco Animal Control and Welfare Commission for 10 years.
He will always be remembered by his family and friends for his incredible wit and “joi de vivre.” He was always the life of the party with his jokes and puns. He was an avid collector of N gauge trains and enjoyed customizing his uncommon Karmann Ghia and Starhawk Studebaker with license plate MRPZA2. He also enjoyed science fiction and collected magazines and books dating back to the 1930s. He played the guitar and sang western and folk music for the enjoyment for himself and others. He will be greatly missed.
A viewing will be Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a funeral service starting at 2:00 pm at Lake Hills Memorial Mortuary, 10055 South State Street, Sandy, Utah. Interment to follow services at Lake Hills Memorial Park.
