Stanley A. Gill, age 89, peacefully passed away on June 4, 2015. Stanley was born to William Henry and Jane Edwards Gill on April 20, 1926 in Wolverhampton, England. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Parkes Gill, October of 1946 in Birmingham, England immigrating to the United States in January of 1949. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 10, 1955.
Stanley loved to play soccer and was inducted into the Utah Soccer Hall of Fame in 2009. He also loved golf and played every Friday with his friends and family up until age 88. Stanley was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving in many callings to include 21 years as a temple worker. He served 42 years for the Utah Air National Guard, retiring as Chief Master Sargent.
He is survived by his children Terry (Jane), Susan, Janie (Jerry), and his 22 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild, and Ira and Audrey Parkes and family.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Elizabeth, two sons, Peter and Paul, and Grandson Sean. He is also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 8, 2015 at 1:00pm at the Brighton 3rd Ward Building, 2301 East Bengal Blvd. Cottonwood Heights. Viewings with be held Sunday, June 7 at Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 E Bengal Blvd, from 6:00-8:00pm and from 12:00-12:45pm prior to the service on Monday. Interment: Mountain View Memorial Cemetery.
