Spencer Garrick

February 3, 1953 — March 17, 2025

Spencer D. Garrick, 72, of South Jordan, Utah Passed away at his residence on Monday, March 17, 2025. Born on February 3, 1953, in Ephraim, Utah, he was the oldest son of Mardell and Dorothy Garrick.

At a young age his first love was baseball, football and golf being a natural athlete with all thing’s sports. He cherished growing up in the little town of Ephraim and shared so many stories from his childhood. After moving to Salt Lake City at the age of 21, he continued playing sports where he made lifelong friends playing softball and golf.

In his early adult years he leaned into his calling to be an entrepreneur. Spence was a successful local businessman, which is how he met the love of his life, Beckey. They would marry August 11, 1978, start a family and together founded an Office Products and Furniture company. They spent many late nights, along with their young children, building it from the ground up and together ran the company side-by-side every day for over 33 years. Doing everything from cleaning toilets, deliveries, sales and collections he took pride in every step. This led to owning a generational company that would be passed down decades after it’s inception.

Although, being an entrepreneur was his calling, it was far from scratching the surface on what he would consider his Legacy. His Legacy would be determined by his fierce love for his family and how his 6 amazing grandkids would come to love and adore their Papa. No title outweighed that of Papa. He was an incredible dad that taught his 3 kids so many personalized traits depending on their personalities and boy did he love being a dad. However, nothing could have given him a quicker smile than hearing any of his grandkids call him Papa.

Spence and his wife even went as far as building a cabin in Bear Lake, Utah to spend extra quality time with family. Throughout the 1990’s, the cabin became a labor of love, building many great memories along the way. Known as The Garrick’s Blue View, the cabin was Spence’s favorite place on Earth. It’s where past generations met new generations and all the memories live on in the logs that make up the cabin walls. He loved nothing more than sitting on the deck with his children and grandchildren, listening to them laugh and roast marshmallows.

He valued his reputation in that he treated everyone with kindness, unless you messed with his family. He loved when he was everyone’s favorite. Even in his last few days, he spent his time inquiring on the wellbeing of his nurses. He was telling everyone how he was the favorite and that is because he truly was. He was the favorite boss, family man, papa, father figure, golfing buddy, gentleman and a true example of a kind heart. Because of his kindness and love for his family, they were all so honored to be present during his peaceful passing at home.

Spence is survived by his wife of 46 years Beckey Garrick; his children Nicholas (Bonnie) Garrick, Tara (Kevin) Fiedler, Britney Garrick; His six loving grandchildren Grant, Lily, Hayden, Paisley, Luke and Nash; His Adopted Son Chris (Cindy) Perkins, their children Anna, Abby and Olivia; His brother Kim (Cindy) Garrick; nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Mardell and Dorothy Garrick; his Sister Jo Ann (Gary) Connor.
