Soon Ok Schreck

Soon Ok Schreck, 87, died on July 16, 2020 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She was born November 9, 1932 in South Korea.  She moved to the United States and was married to Buford P. Schreck in 1960.  She moved here knowing very little English and was able to gain her US citizenship in just a few years. She had a zest for life, always traveling and sharing experiences with her family and friends, from camping to museums.  She worked for many years at Tooele Army Depot, gaining lifelong friendships along the way.   Her passion was cooking and making sure people she knew and cared for were well fed, always going out of her way to make a meal for someone.  She also loved crocheting, vegetable gardening, her rose garden, and her two cats, Sandy and Sammy.  She was very generous and will be greatly missed.  She is survived by her daughters Barbara (Mark), Patty, and Bonnie; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.    A very special thanks to Pacifica Senior Living staff who spent the last year taking the time to get to know her and sharing special times with her, and to Active Home Health and Hospice who always had time to talk with her and make her comfortable.  Due to the current public health crisis, services will not be held at this time.  A memorial will be arranged next year to celebrate her life.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary or Best Friends Animal Society of Utah.
