Sondra Halford

March 31, 1941 — May 15, 2014

Sondra, 73, formerly of Alton, IL, passed away peacefully at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital on May 15, 2014 surrounded by her family after a short battle with Leukemia. She was born on March 31, 1941 to Fred and Florence Hoggatt in Roxana, IL. She married Richard Halford on August 14, 1959 whom she spent 54 wonderful years with raising her family.
Sondra retired from Salt Lake County Youth Services in 2001. Her final years working were spent at the Christmas Box House as their cook. She loved spending time with the children that were housed there. She served in many different capacities at her church over the years. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Awana Director, Choir Member and Nursery Coordinator. She was currently a member at First Southern Baptist Church of Bountiful.
Sondra is preceded in death by her parents, brother Gary Hoggatt Sr., sister Sheridan Newman, and son-in-law Trent Wilson. Survived by her husband, Richard Halford, daughters Tammy (Mike) Dykeman, Kaye (Joel) Crow, Sara Wilson, Rae (Chad) Gleeson, 15 grand children, six great-grand children and sister Betty Herrmann.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Mt View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, UT. Family and friends may call two hours prior to services. Interment will be at Mt View Estates. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Sondra’s name to First Southern Baptist Church of Bountiful, 696 N. 400 E., Bountiful, Utah, 84010.
