July 16, 1971-February 13, 2022 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beautiful Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister and Aunt, Shylo (DeSpain) Bazzaz, of West Jordan, Utah. Shylo passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022 after a courageous battle after a year and a half of appendix cancer, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born July 16, 1971, in Salt Lake City Utah, Shylo was the daughter of Ann (Schmidtke) DeSpain and John (Jack) DeSpain. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 29 years, Ali Bazzaz and their two children: Chandler Bazzaz and Alyssa (Shane) French. She is also survived by her mother, siblings: Brenda Zenger, Johnny (Dawnell) DeSpain, Shannan DeSpain, in-laws: Mohammad and Peggy Bazzaz, and close friends the Mason and Forgette Families, and also “My” Helen Preston who came down from Montana to surprise Shylo many times. Shylo is preceded in death by her father, John (Jack) DeSpain, Paternal Grandparents Guy and Emily DeSpain and Maternal Grandparents Albert and Betty Schmidtke.
Shylo grew up in Kearns, Utah and attended Salt Lake Lutheran High School where she met Ali and they began their long love affair of 32 years. Together they have traveled the world and made lifelong friends everywhere they went. Shylo loved working for Jordan Valley Hospital for the last 8 years as an Insurance Verifier and loved all of her coworkers deeply. Shylo lived life to the fullest, always smiling and lighting up every room she walked into. Shylo will be dearly missed and always remembered for her beautiful and graceful soul.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 12, 2022 from 12-3 at the Real Salt Lake Stadium located in Sandy, Utah. We thought this would be a great honor to our Shylo because of our many years of being season ticket holders of the Riot Brigade supporters’ group for Real Salt Lake who have done nothing but love Shylo like family. Her contagious smile and her big welcoming hugs will be deeply missed at future tailgating events.
Shylo also enjoyed The Utah Miata club and traveling with them to different spots of the state. She will be deeply missed on their monthly Saturday rides throughout the valley and all the holiday parties.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to World Central Kitchen or to The Innocence Project in Shlyo’s name. Envelopes will be available at the Celebration of Life.Service Information
