Shirley Mortenson Palmquist, age 95, was reunited with her sweetheart, Bob, on January 25, 2025, after 30 long years.
Shirley was a quintessential military wife who could work a room and host a party like no one else. With her cheerful demeanor and optimistic outlook, Shirley never met a stranger, only new friends. She was an amazing mother to David, Debra, and Scott, but also a marvelous grandmother and great-grandmother. She forged lasting relationships with her grandchildren as well as her great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her GG. Her family and friends always said Shirley made everything more fun.
After retirement, she kept busy doing the things she loved: tap dancing with the Dancing Grannies, sewing for the humanitarian center, and serving a part-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In her final year, she would say, “If I have to wake up tomorrow, let me do some good.”
She will always be remembered for her big heart, red nails, and by her final words, “Let’s get this show on the road.”
Shirley will be laid to rest on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 11:30 am at Memorial Lakeview Mortuary & Cemetery, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful.
