Shirley Marie Hansen

Our wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on April 9th, 2018 surrounded by her family. Shirley was born September 6th, 1935, to Charles and Bernice Knapp in Coopersville, Michigan. There, Shirley met her future husband, Bob, while working as a waitress. They married and had four daughters. Nineteen years later, with the girls in tow, they picked up and moved to Utah where a job was awaiting Bob. After settling, mom got a job at the Golden Living Center as the head housekeeper which she held for 20 some years. She touched so many people wherever she went and cared deeply about all the residents in assisted living. Survivors include daughters Debby (Steven) Thomas, Dorrie Hansen (Reinier), Diane (Rupert) Jackson and Denise Hansen, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition, Shirley thought of Debby’s best friend, Pat Nelson, more as a daughter than a close friend. She would often refer to Pat as such. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Bob. Mom wasn’t a very well trained monkey, but she was our monkey…our circus.
Services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, April 16th, 2018 at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 S. Redwood Rd. with a viewing one hour prior. There will be a memorial at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4290 W. 5415 S., Kearns, UT, following the service. Interment will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, April 17th, 2018 at Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park at Camp Williams, 17111 S. 1700 W., Bluffdale, UT.
