Shirley Jean Peck passed away surrounded by loved ones October 23, 2019 at Jordan Valley Medical Center in West Jordan, UT. She was born on Valentine’s Day in 1932 in Logan, UT, to Kurt and Lona Strobelt. She has four children and loved being a mother. She married Shelden Peck on October 2, 1976 in Costa Mesa, California and they have enjoyed 43 years together.
Any shopping department called Shirley’s name because if there was a discount going on, she knew about it! She would purchase the clothing, and then do some of her own sewing work to alter the clothing to her liking. The seamstress work she learned from her father. She enjoyed musicals and could sing every song in every musical you could think of. Shirley began tapdancing from a young age, which sparked her eternal love for dance.
On Thursdays Shirley and Shelden danced at the Murray Senior Heritage Center and on Fridays they danced at the Murray Art Center. Skip Bo was Shirley’s favorite card game and would play it with anyone who would accept the challenge against her!
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, her four children: Debra (Steve) Aungst, David (Carolyn) Cragun, Lisa (Scott) Jones, and Lorilynn (Steve) Phillips, 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, one brother: Steven (Margie) Strobelt, and one sister: Bonnie Brennan.
She is preceded in death by parents, her first husband Ronald Norman Cragun (passed away on June 18, 1970), and sister: Doris Walker.
An evening viewing will be held Monday, October 28, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT, 84123. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 11:00 AM with an hour prior viewing at the Oquirrh Point 1st Ward, 6253 West 6200 South, West Valley City, UT, 84118. Burial is to follow back at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
