Shirley Hart

January 16, 1931 — March 22, 2021

Cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Shirley Nan Beeny Hart, age 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her daughter’s home in Sandy, Utah on March 22, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in the house she was raised in on January 16, 1931 to Arthur Bryant and Mabel Davies Beeny. She was one of eight children. She attended Murray High School and graduated with the class of 1949. She was working at Vernals Café in Murray when she met her sweetheart, Lowell. Shirley married Lowell Parkin Hart on March 31, 1954. They were later sealed for Time and all Eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. Lowell was the light and love of her life.
Shirley attended LDS Business College where she learned the art of shorthand. She played the ukulele, steel guitar, and later in life learned to play the piano.
Shirley and Lowell had four children together along with Shirley’s two step-children, all of which she adored.
She was a classy lady who was an inspiration and perfect role model to all who knew her. Shirley was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time playing with them during their many boating, motorcycle riding, camping, and four-wheeling trips. Shirley spent her working career at ZCMI and Macy’s in the China and Silver Department. She loved to crochet and put together numerous afghan blankets which will be cherished by those of us lucky enough to have received one.
Shirley attended a Wilton cake decorating course through Relief Society. She spent countless hours baking and decorating birthday cakes for everybody as well as many, many gorgeous wedding cakes. People always complimented how beautiful and yummy they were. Shirley made the best chocolate chip cookies, soft ginger snap cookies, and banana bread in the world. Her house always smelled yummy from fresh baked goodies, especially around the holidays. Shirley loved her children and grandchildren. She always wanted us to have the best holidays and never failed to impress with all of her decorating skills.
Our family won’t forget the countless hours playing Dominos around the kitchen table using her colorful handmade domino trays. She spent numerous hours playing Dominos with her sisters and their spouses. She enjoyed playing Bingo with friends while Lowell called it out at the Murray Senior Center.
Mom/Grandma got to spend a few cherished years with her sister Afton and family following a life-long search after being separated during their childhood years.
Shirley is survived by her four children; Jeff (Chris) Hart, Shirlene (Rob) Johnson, Ron (Jody) Hart, Cyndi (Kirk) Freeman, two step-children; Kathy (Richard) Carter, Ralph (Teri) Hart, 39 grandchildren, and 44 great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly.
Shirley will be reunited in heaven with her parents, eight siblings, loving husband; Lowell, son in-law; George, three grandsons; Tadge, Travis, Jason, and many friends.
