Shirley Holman Dennison

May 28, 1936 — March 18, 2025

West Jordan

Shirley Holman Dennison, our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025.

Born on May 28, 1936, to Reldon John and Vicena Elizabeth Holman in Fountain Green, Utah. Shirley married the love of her life and eternal sweetheart, DeLoss Dennison, on February 3, 1956, and later sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple on February 2, 1957. Shirley is preceded in death by her loving husband, DeLoss.

Shirley grew up in Fountain Green, Utah, and attended Moroni High School. Upon graduation, she moved to Salt Lake City where she met her sweetheart. DeLoss and Shirley settled in Sandy, Utah, where they built a beautiful life together and raised their family. Her home was her castle, and she spent countless hours caring for her house and yard. She enjoyed every minute and had the best manicured yard on the block.

Shirley retired from the Salt Lake County Recorder’s Office after 33 years, where she made many lifelong friends. She had a contagious laugh and keen sense of humor and often pulled pranks on her coworkers. Her good-natured, fun personality brought joy to everyone and every situation.

Shirley was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Among other callings, she served as the Stake and Ward Relief Society President and Stake Young Women's President.

Shirley deeply loved the temple and served for 15 years in the Draper and Jordan River temple laundry, where she made many new friends and brought joy to those she worked with. Shirley performed each duty in the temple with great love and pride, as if each task were an offering to her Savior.

Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Shirley’s favorite saying is ‘Love One Another’, and she led by example as she quietly served her neighbors, friends, and strangers who became friends. Her dedication to service was unwavering, and her love was always felt.

One of her many talents was crocheting and quilting. She crocheted beautiful pieces for family and friends. She also donated to those in need. Our family enjoyed many road trips, camping and exploring the great outdoors. Later in life, she and DeLoss traveled to Yuma with their friends. It was a highlight of their retired life.

The family would like to thank those who surrounded our mother with love and support over the past few months. You are angels on earth. Shirley is survived by her children David (Sherrie), John (Sheri), and Marian (Jeffrey) McFarlane, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one on the way.
