Shirlene Dimmick Redding

March 6, 1935 — March 2, 2019

Shirlene Dimmick Redding
1935 ~ 2019
Shirlene was born to Ford Aaron Dimmick and Effie V. Larsen, March 6,1935 in Roosevelt, Utah on a cold windy night. She returned to our Heavenly Father at age 83, in her home surrounded by loving family, March 2, 2019 (four days before her 84th birthday).
She had two siblings Carl and Della. Della was a second mother and cherished friend. She married Joseph William Redding on May 23,1953 and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on November 23,1955. They would have been married for 66 years this May. She treasured her family with all her heart! Her personal history stated: “My most important work in life was that of wife, mother and grandmother, which was more rewarding than any other employment and [is] never ending throughout eternity”.
She is survived by her husband and four children, Jody (Bill) Cruz, Larry (Rhonda) Redding, Leland (Paula) Redding and Wayne (Margaret) Redding, 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
During her childhood she lived in Utah in the cities of Roosevelt, Moon Lake, Deer Creek, Midway, Provo, Salt Lake City and in Lava Hot Springs, and Pocatello, Idaho. After marriage, she lived in three homes in Salt Lake City, one in Bountiful, Harrisburg and Hurricane all in Utah. Her final move was to live with her daughter, Jody and husband, Bill Cruz, in Taylorsville, Utah.
She attended many schools during her childhood. In Salt Lake City she went to Jefferson School and West High, from which she graduated.
She worked many diverse jobs throughout her life, the longest being 17 years for Utah State Recovery Services. After retiring at 62, during the Winter season, she and Joe pulled a trailer throughout the southwest, traveling with longtime friends, Joe and Vivian Moulton, Delbert and Margaret Boynton and many other new friends along the way.
She attended and served faithfully in many callings and activities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Joe and Shirlene served a mission at Cove Fort in Utah in 1997, which was a long-awaited highlight of their life together.
Her passion was Family History! She painstakingly worked all her adult life finding, submitting and finalizing her ancestors’ names for temple work. She compiled pictures, memorabilia and data into binders for every branch of her family tree; her ancestors, parents, siblings and their families, husband and his family, her children individually and then their families.
