Sheryl Joy Geoghan

Sheryl Joy Geoghan, age 65, passed away on July 25, 2024 in West Jordan, Utah. She was born on July 18, 1959 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Wilbur and Phyllis Pipenhagen. Sheryl married Steven Geoghan on August 3, 1979. 

Sheryl was all about sharing Jesus’ love and loving on those around her. She loved carrying on traditions from her family having fun “cheating” at card games like great-grandma Miller as well as creating new traditions with her husband and daughter. 

Sheryl was a lifelong teacher in the elementary grades with her longest stint as a kindergarten teacher for about 23 years at I.C.S. and most recently as the 5th and 6th grade teacher at Abide Christian Academy. She loved pouring into her “little monkeys” and challenging them to grow in their personal relationship with Jesus.

Sheryl will be remembered with great warmth and affection for her passion to provide opportunities to love her family, friends, and anyone else who happened to be around. Sending “Christmas in July” care packages, and planning picnics or game nights so people could gather and encourage each other. May we all continue this legacy that stems from Jesus’ sacrificial and unconditional love for us. 

Sheryl is survived by her beloved husband, Steven, her cherished daughter Charity Joy as well as her four dear siblings Trudy, Terry, Bruce and Wendy. 

She is preceded in death by her treasured parents Wilbur and Phyllis.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 4:00 PM with a visitation starting at 2:30 PM at Awaken Church, 322 West 11000 South, South Jordan, Utah.
