Sherwood Lisonbee

October 18, 1933 — January 28, 2021

October 18, 1933 – January 28, 2021
Sherwood Clayton (Clay) Lisonbee was the second oldest son of four children born to Shelby and Elva Lisonbee (born October 18, 1933) in Lawrence, Utah and died January 28, 2021 in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
Affectionately known as Clay by his friends and family, he was a truck driver by trade. He enjoyed owing beautiful cars and hunting with his partner in life, his wife, Karen to whom he was married for sixty-three years.
He despised bullies and know-it-alls. But loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchild with all his heart.
Famously opinioned and short-tempered, Clay handed these qualities down to some of his children, which they all will deny. But you know who you are. He also thought he was so funny, but according to his wife, the only thing funny about him, was the way his pants hung.
He had a fondness for westerns, country music, cowboy boots and telling tall tales. He swore up and down that he was part Native American. In fact, use to swear he was “Chief Wanna Poop from the Never Sh*t Tribe.” Which some of the grand kids still think is true.
He enjoyed lamb, liver and onions and Sheep Herder’s Stew. He enjoyed reading (mainly westerns) until neck pain took that enjoyment away. His feistiness and stubbornness served him well throughout his life. Even in his waning months he was a model of strong will and sheer determination right here on earth. He will be greatly missed by many friends, neighbors, and his family.
Also preceding Clay in death were his parents, Shelby and Elva Lisonbee, his younger sister, Shelly Graham, a son-in-law, Mike Mawson, granddaughter Cambry Mawson and great-grandson Kaleb Mitchell.
A tremendous heartfelt thanks go out to Hospice and his nurse, Susan who were truly compassionate and exceptional during this time. They also provided peace and tranquility during this transition from this life into the next. We would like to thank everyone for their love and support and are truly grateful. There has been a Go-Fund-Me set up in his name for anyone wishing to donate to assist his family with his final expense.
Clay did not like viewing or funerals, so with this in mind, graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary at 3115 E Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121. A celebration of his life will follow at the LDS Church at 2925 E Bengal Blvd (7800 South), Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
