Sheila Rasmussen died on November 11, 2023 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 82. She was born on July 14, 1941 in Oakley, Idaho to Floyd Hans Rasmussen and Roberta Haycock.
Sheila was the oldest of 6 girls born to her parents. She lived her early years in the small mining town Lark, Utah. She served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southwest Indian Mission to the Navajo Nation and the Tohono O'odham Tribe. When she returned from her mission she told us we were all too pale and returned to Arizona to live with the people she loved. Sheila worked for Indian Health Services at San Xavier for many years. She served her church as an Early Morning Seminary teacher and a Gospel Doctrine and Primary Teacher. She also loved to help the Missionaries serving in Tucson, Arizona. She was an avid book reader and always had a book near. She returned to cold and snowy Utah when she retired to be with her family.
Sheila is survived by her sisters, Suellen (Richard) Wilson, Ruth (Kenneth) Steadman, Gwenda (Ray) Eastman and Colleen (Dennis) McKnight and so many nieces and nephews along with greats and great greats we don't have room to list them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Carol Hutchings and nephews Wade Floyd Hutchings and Derek Floyd Steadman.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM followed by interment at Memorial Redwood Estates 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
