Shawn Lyle Willson

August 23, 1970 — November 22, 2024

Rock Springs, Wyoming

Shawn Lyle Willson, born August 23, 1970 in Rock Springs Wyoming to his loving parents, Lyle Willson and Nadine Johnson. Shawn left this world peacefully to return to his father in heaven on November 22, 2024 in his brothers home surrounded by his loving family.

Shawn was a very loving and gentle man; he loved to listen to anyone’s stories and share many of his own. He was always willing to help whoever he met in whatever capacity he could. Those who came to know Shawn grew to love him as a beloved friend.

Shawn graduated high school in Rock Springs in 1988, he traveled that summer to Arizona to attend Robert DeVry Institute for a career in mathematics and computer programming. His stay at the university was cut short due to complications and he returned home shortly after. Upon his homecoming Shawn engaged in work in many different fields. He was a skilled mechanic, salesman, oilfield technician, manager, and equipment operator in a prominent trona mine in Rock Springs. Shawn held various other jobs in between, his willingness to take on work whatever it was to meet his needs and often times the needs of others made him a shining example of fortitude and determination.

Shawn was a very kind and loving person, who loved life itself. Being an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and especially rock hounding. Anytime he could do these things, by himself or with family, brought great joy and peace to him. Many times, he took his parents and brother out rock hounding through different areas of Wyoming. Having an incredible knack for photography, he captured every brilliant moment on film to share with family and friends later.

Shawn had many passions outside of anything outdoors that he enjoyed in his down time. Shawn loved reading, crosswords, a good movie and a good story to tell. In his early days he would tie his own flies for fly fishing and reload shells for hunting. He enjoyed anything that was a challenge, puzzles of every kind. His brilliance is always shown through in his conversation. Shawn was a genius by any other standard.

Shawn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and attended services whenever he could with his mother. His love for God and family showed in his devotion to both.

Shawn is survived in death by sister Renee Willson and Spouse Kevin Chidester(Kearns, UT), sister Leann Lamb (Huron, SD), brother Kelly Willson and Spouse Dawn Willson (Rock Springs, WY), brother Michael Willson and Spouse Melissa Willson (West Point, UT).
