Sharp Leon Burton

Sharp Leon Burton, 86, passed peacefully at home on August 29, 2020. He was with his family. Sharp was born September 17, 1933 at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT to Joseph Leon Burton and Lulu Peggy Dumanye. Sharp attended West High School and The University of Utah and was active in basketball and baseball. He served in the U.S. Army after the Korean War (1956-1957). He worked at the Newspaper Agency Corporation for 40+ years as supervisor of the Mail Room.
Sharp married Janice Darlene Wheeler on February 17, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah. On June 30, 1981 they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. They built a life together with their 3 children: Steve (LaNae), Scott (Rachel), and Shauna Burton: 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Sharp also has a younger sister, Anette Oney, living in the Spokane area.
Sharp was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. (He was the unofficial COMIC GREETER at the door.) Sharp always wanted to make you laugh, and would always remember your name. He loved his dogs he had over the years.

Funeral Services will be September 4, 2020 at 11 am in the chapel at Memorial Holladay~Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S Highland Dr. Holladay, UT 84117. Friends may call from 10:00-10:45 am before services. Interment will take place at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E. 4580 S, Millcreek, UT 84117.
