Sharon Oates Baker
1953 ~ 2015
Our beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother Sharon Oates Baker, 61, graduated from life and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 12 from complications while courageously winning her battle against breast cancer. She was dedicated to God, her family, and selflessly served everyone around her. Sharon was born November 24, 1953 in Salt Lake City, to Lois and Douglas Oates as the fifth of six children. She was the inspiration and driving force behind Feature Films for Families which touched the lives of millions of children. Sharon married Forrest S. Baker III on June 12, 1976, best friends and partners for 39 years. They had 7 amazing children and 17 beautiful grandchildren (so far). Sharon is survived by her husband, and her kids Forrest (Angelina) Baker IV, Jared Baker, Sarah (Mark) Sly, Kari (Michael) Calton, Holly (Taylor) Patterson, and Nate (Emily) Baker. She is also survived by her mother and siblings Joyce, Donna, Diane, Bill and Noreen. She was preceded in death by her father and her daughter Brittany Baker. We know our Heavenly Father has a special place for her in heaven. There will be a viewing at Mountain View Memorial, 3115 East 7800 South (Bengal Blvd.) on Sunday, May 17 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 18 at the Cottonwood Stake Center, 1830 East 6400 South (nursery services provided) with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park. She is our one and only! She had learned all she needed to know to graduate. Her legacy and example will never be forgotten. Please take a moment to share a memory of Sharon at www.mountainviewmortuary.com or at her viewings.
