Severiano C. Hernandez

February 21, 1938 — October 23, 2019

Murray – Severiano Castro Hernandez, 81 years, passed away at his residence surrounded by family.
He was born February 21, 1938 to Nieves and Hilaria Hernandez in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He was a member of Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Annette, son Severiano M (Hope), daughter Zulema, daughter Susana, son Nieves, daughter Jackie (Preston) and son Reza (Peter). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Severiano was preceded in death by his parents Nieves and Hilaria, his first wife Minerva, sisters Encaenacion, Marciana and Mere and his brother Maredonio (Poncho).
Born in Mexico, he moved to Texas and then to Utah where he raised his family. He was a member o the Brotherhood of Maintenance for the Union Pacific Railroad where he worked and retired from after 33 years.
He married Annette in 1994 and lived in Midvale for 16 years, where he planted a huge garden and kept the yard up. He would visit his children and their families every Sunday after church. He enjoyed spending time with his family immensely.
He was a very generous and loving father, grandfather, husband, brother and friend. He was devoted to his faith and had a giving spirit in all ways. He had a sense of humor and laughed a lot. He made other people laugh. Everywhere he went, he made friends and the always remembered Sevey.
He enjoyed traveling and seeing new things, always taking family with him.
He was an avid softball player and he played until he was 65. Then he went weekly to watch his kids play. He was always willing to try new things and enjoy it. He was always giving and never asked for anything in return. He was always a kid at heart.
Severiano will be remembered and loved by all who came into contact with him and knew him. With much love.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 10:00 – 12:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT, 84123 with a graveside service to follow at the West Jordan City Cemetery, 7800 S 1300 W, West Jordan, UT 84088
