Scotty Shervell Howell

May 3, 1968 — December 26, 2016

Scotty Shervell Howell was born in Fairbanks, Alaska on May 3, 1968 to Arvell Howell, Sr and the late Martha White Howell. While growing up, Scotty traveled around the world with his military parents. He lived in Alaska, Germany, Kentucky, Virginia and Texas, until his dad retired and the family settled in Oakland, California.
Scotty graduated from Galileo High School in San Francisco, California. While attending Galileo, he met the love of his life, Rochelle. They gave birth to their son Terron, and were married on December 2, 1990. They lived in Oakland and in Southern California where they were active in Victory Outreach and Cathedral of Praise Church. Scotty was then offered a position with Intel in Portland, Oregon and they re-located to Portland. They remained in Portland until moving to Utah for another job opportunity. In Utah, they joined The Point Church where Scotty and Rochelle were very active church members. Scotty was the director of the Celebrate Recovery Small Group and was active in the Men’s Small Group. He was one of the Lead Pastor’s Attendants. He and Rochelle helped coordinate the church’s annual Christmas gift-giving to children at Western Hills Elementary.
Scotty is preceded in death by his mother, Martha, his brother, Arvell, Jr. and his loving wife, Rochelle. His memories will always be cherished by his son Terron, his father, Arvell, Sr (Minnie), his mother-In-law Edith Nemesio, his sister, Necole Jones (Billy), his brother, Rodney, his nephews, Billy Jones III, Therron Howell, and Omari Howell; his nieces, Ashari Jones, Eboni Jones, Angela Jones and Alexus Howell; his uncle, Lucious Daniels (Juanita); his aunts, Ollie Thornton (Robert), Charlie Henry, Sara White, Clarieth Lumsey, and Juanita Daniels (Lucious); and a host of cousins, friends and church members.
The Howell Family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, prayers, cards, floral expressions and acts of kindness during this difficult time. May God bless each of you.
