Sandra “Sandi” Bauman passed away peacefully on June 16, 2022 in Provo, Utah surrounded by her family. We will miss her so much but are grateful that she is not in pain anymore.
Sandi was born July 29, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri to Henry and Maxine Amstutz. She was very close to her older brother Rick. Growing up, she and Rick were good friends, always watching out for each other and spending time together. He interviewed all of her dates as a teen and she became very good at keeping him out of trouble.
In her growing up years, Sandi was very active and involved. She was athletic, smart and frequently on the honor roll. She loved dancing, sports, bowling and was even a showboat dancer on the Mississippi river.
Sandi met and later married Douglas Ray Bauman in 1962. They had three children together and many adventures before they divorced. She later met Donald Lythgoe and spent the rest of her life with him.
Sandi worked throughout her life in many different roles. She worked at Skaggs, the Harmons Center and as an administrative assistant at Baxter and Cardinal Health where her bosses relied heavily on her. She was often told that they would be lost without her. Her grandkids enjoyed her time working there as they were the recipients of the office’s Lagoon Days and have many memories of running around the park with Grandma.
Sandi was loving, kind and always interested in what was going on in your life. She taught us the importance of spending time with the people who were close to you. She was a lover of black Friday shopping, Capodimonte porcelain, Christmas Hallmark movies all year long and hot chocolate on Christmas morning. She didn’t always love surprises and would often open her Christmas gifts before re-wrapping them and putting them back under the tree. The lack of surprises didn’t stop her from being the first one up on Christmas morning when her children were younger.
Family was everything to Sandi and she lived for phone calls, letters, parties, jokes and stories from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved a good poker game and had the best Coca-Cola poker room around. She loved going to Wendover so she could hopefully win big, though she seemed to usually break even. She was an amazing bowler, played in leagues throughout her life and taught many of her children and grandchildren to love the sport. Sandi was always a dog lover and could often be found sending emails and funny facebook messages and videos to her kids and grandkids, often in the middle of the night.
Sandi was an avid believer in angels, both in heaven and in the people she met and interacted with throughout her life.
Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Maxine Amstutz and many of her close Aunts, Uncles and cousins. She is survived by her brother Rick (Pat) Amstutz and children Randy (Sue) Bauman, Candi (Brent) Bown, Scott (Stephanie) Bauman and stepsons Jeremy (Melissa) Lythgoe and Kenneth Lythgoe. She is also survived by her companion of the last 35 years Donald Lythgoe, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Utah Valley Hospital for the excellent and tender care she received there. They would also like to thank one of Sandi’s best friends Rosa, as well as Krista and Joel for being angels to her in so many ways. We will miss her so much. She was a wonderful sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. We love you!
