Sandra Kaye Lay Carter, 76, passed peacefully at her home on December 26, 2013 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. Sandra was born on December 16, 1937 in Reno, Nevada to parents Howard Kay and Eva Beck Lay. She graduated from North Sanpete High School. Sandra married Richard Donald “Don” Carter on April 2, 1958 in the Manti Temple. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and held various callings. Her greatest joys were her testimony of Christ and spending time with her family. She was her family’s greatest supporter and never missed an event or opportunity to make a memory. She and Don lived in Salt Lake City all of their married lives, but loved traveling and cruising to see the sights.
She is survived by her husband Don and their three wonderful children, Valerie (Clifford) Sorensen of Syracuse, Steven (Shelly) Carter of Farmington, and Vickie (Russell) Roberts of South Jordan, foster-daughter Pam A. Wood of Long Beach, CA, 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Marian Schoonover, Ronald Lay, and Paula Bright. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Cottonwood 1st Ward Chapel at 5913 S Highland Drive, Holladay, UT. Friends and family may call on Sunday evening from 6-8 pm at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. A visitation will also be held at the chapel, prior to services, from 9:30 am- 10:30 am.
Interment will be at Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 South Memory Lane, Holladay, UT. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary.
