Samuel Scot Meyer

Samuel Scot Meyer, our beloved husband, son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend passed away tragically and unexpectedly in the early morning hours on June 19, 2021 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on April 4, 1965 in Salt Lake City, Utah to David and Gerri Dodge Meyer. He married and sealed to his soulmate, Debbie Ann Evans Meyer on November 12, 2013 in the Jordan River Temple.
Scot was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved river rafting and working as a river guide for The Boy Scouts of America in Jackson, Wyoming. He was also an Eagle Scout. He loved working with his hands. Some of Scot’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He was happiest when he was serving or helping others. He loved being with family. He would do anything for anybody, always giving of himself and his time. He was a man of great integrity. Scot was a Granger High School Graduate. He attended college for three years.
It is often in the darkest moments in our lives that we realize and embrace the true work of our souls. Scot leaves us a great legacy. We were not ready to let him go. Only the love in his infinite wisdom and tender mercies understands and gives us strength to carry on.
Scot is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Evans Meyer, parents David Samuel and Gerri D Meyer, sons David Meyer, Brandon Meyer, Nathan Meyer, Casey Hardman, Codey (Rachelle) Hardman, Kevin Hardman, and his 10 grandchildren. Siblings Todd (Kory) Meyer, Paul (Kim) Meyer, Michelle (Darrell) Rasmussen, and Jeff (Tiffany) Meyer, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his paternal grandparents Jacob and Doris Bills Meyer and his maternal grandparents Bill and June Last Dodge, grandmother-in-law Geneva Burns, nephew Aiden Thomas and two nieces Kortney Meyer and Keri Lynn Meyer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM with a viewing beginning one hour prior at 10:00 AM. An evening viewing will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. All will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Westland 3rd Ward, 7265 South 2700 West, West Jordan, Utah. Interment to follow the services at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
