Samuel Russell Lewis, age 37, died on February 14, 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sam was born in Safford, Arizona on January 22, 1979. He married Anna Rebecca Knudsen on November 2, 2013 in Park City, Utah. Their marriage was recently solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Sam loved to play the guitar and sing, loved soccer, rugby, rafting, snowboarding, hiking, camping, and any outdoor adventure. He was known as a dare-devil, doing gainers off any cliff. He had a deep spiritual side and developed a connection with his Apache heritage, leaving life-long friends there. He was greatly loved for his compassion, aliveness and ever present smile. He will be very, very, very missed.
He is survived by his wife Anna, parents Lawrence and Barbara Lewis, siblings and their spouses: Mike (Michelle) Lewis, Andrea (Reid) Lewis, and Chris (Jessie) Lewis, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the LDS chapel on 2555 Kilby Road, Park City, Utah at 11:00 a.m. Viewings will be held on Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the LDS chapel on 3408 Celeste Way, Salt Lake City, Utah, and also Saturday in Park City prior to the funeral services from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Holladay Memorial Park in Salt Lake City, Utah.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Anasazi Foundation, a wilderness therapy and recovery program for youth. Donations can be made to the Samuel Lewis Memorial Scholarship online at Anasazi.org. Funeral Directors: Holladay~Cottonwood Mortuary.
