Samisoni Veisa Pekipaki

June 16, 1949 — July 8, 2020

Samisoni Veisa Pekipaki was called back to our father in heaven surrounded by his loved ones on July 8th, 2020. Samisoni was born in Ha’apai, Tonga on June 16, 1949. He married the love of his life Sokopeti Fakaosifolau Pekipaki on August 15th, 1975 immediately adopting the role of fatherhood for Aulola Fakaosifolau, Viliami Fakaosifolau, and Saane Fakaosifolau and later having two more children Tevita Pekipaki and Liliena Pekipaki. Samisoni is the third oldest out of 15 siblings and out of the fifteen siblings he is survived by Poteni Kinikini, Liliena Pekipaki, Toiahi Pekipaki, Alamani Pekipaki, Sione Vaea Kinikini, Temaleti Pekipaki, Meletonga Pekipaki, Lina Pekipaki, Eni Kinikini, Pulotu Kinikini, and Litia Kinikini. He later came to America and touched down in San Francisco with his wife where they worked various odd jobs to support their kids in Tonga. After a couple of years, they were able to save enough to bring the oldest child Aulola from Tonga to the states and Liliena. Samisoni was most well-known for his kindness, everlasting patience, and in our native tongue called “angalelei.” Samisoni was a true fisherman having grown up in the islands where most their food came from the sea and living in a time where they had to provide the food for themselves Samisoni was an accomplished fisherman and loved it until the end. Samisoni was a member of the Tongan United Methodist church. Samisoni was a kind and gentle spirit overflowing with years of wisdom that he shared with anyone he came in contact with and was a great story teller of his experiences in life. Samisoni always taught the important things in life are God, family and how you treat others and he was a living testament to his beliefs. He was a sweeter than and had the patience of a monk. Samisoni lives through his children and grandchildren with the stories and memories that live on in our hearts.
