Our beautiful mother left this world surrounded by family, love, laughter and tears on Monday, March 5th, 2018 at the young age of 62.
Sally S. Roberts was born on October 21, 1955 to Bill and Syble Stromness in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sally contracted the measles at two weeks old which resulted in her complete deafness. She grew up running around the neighborhood causing all sorts of giggles and havoc with her two sisters, brother and many friends. She attended Utah School for the Deaf and Blind in Ogden, Utah, from the time she was four years old until she graduated in 1975. She made many loyal and lifelong friends during her time at USDB, including her sweetheart, Lennis Roberts.
Sally and Lennis were married on May 9th, 1975, and later were sealed in the Ogden, Utah LDS temple on May 7th, 1977. Together, Sally and Lennis had three beautiful children, Ammie, Pernell and Johanna. They loved their life, their children and each other. Lennis passed away in 1983, leaving Sally to raise their children.
Sally loved to travel, visit with friends and family and play games (she especially LOVED to win). Sally volunteered much of her time at the Sanderson Community Center to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, working with deaf senior citizens.
In 2010 Sally became re-acquainted with Carl Roberts, another school friend. They were married in 2011. Carl passed away in 2012.
Sally loved to spend time with her children and her five grandchildren, to whom she was lovingly known as ‘Grandma Salad’.
Sally passed away due to complications of undiagnosed cancer. Thank you to the incredible nurses, doctors and staff at University of Utah hospital who listened and diligently sought out answers for our family when others would not. Thank you for making Sally’s final days comfortable and dignified.
Sally is survived by her three children; Ammie Martin (John) of Magna, Utah, Pernell Roberts (Katrina) of Vancouver, WA, and Johanna Roberts of Salt Lake City, Utah, her five grandchildren; Kaylee, Samantha, Clara, Grace and Gabriel, her sisters; Julie Christensen (Leland) and Irene McLelland (Doug), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lennis, second husband Carl, parents, Bill and Syble Stromness, brother Garry Stromness and father and mother-in-law, Floyd and Drexel Roberts.
