1990 – 2016
Ryan William Kimball, our precious son and brother, passed to the next phase of his journey October 23, 2016, after many successful battles in a long war against addiction.  He was a valiant and courageous warrior.
Ryan found some of his greatest joy and peace in playing the guitar and composing original music. He loved music of all types, but especially Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mars Volta and Jimi Hendrix.
Ryan was always quick to express sincere appreciation and excitement even for something as simple as a box of cereal he’d been wanting to try.  He had a generous, tender heart and could never pass a homeless person without sharing something from his pocket.  He accepted everyone without judgement and delighted us all with his quick wit.  Neighbors enjoyed his friendly, personable manor.
He was always looking for a better way to do things.  Part of his uniqueness and charm was his creativity.  That gave rise to his unexpected, off the wall sense of humor.  He was definitely the fun guy in our family.
He had great appreciation for nature and loved hiking–especially with our dog, Sydney.  She will miss their weekly hikes.  He even liked spiders and was fascinated watching them.
His favorite pastimes included hitting the slopes at Snowbird or riding the wake behind our boat.  We enjoyed many outings at Utah Lake and Lake Powell watching Ryan perform amazing tricks and big air jumps on his wakeboard.
He has worked for several years as a digital printer and became an excellent craftsman.  He and his mom built a chicken coop together.  The two of them shared a wonderful trip to Zambia 5 years ago where Ryan made a fearless bungie jump off Victoria Falls plunging hundreds of feet along side the third largest waterfall in the world.  They worked together at an orphanage in Zambia where Ryan played his guitar for young men who adored him.
Ryan is survived by his parents: Richard Kimball and Christie Brixen Kimball; siblings: Maryann Broberg (Jed), Clayton, Steven, Eli, Alex and Allison.  His younger brother, John, died 3 years ago.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00, Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Holladay 4th Ward, 4917 S Viewmont St.  A viewing will be held there Thursday evening from 7-9 pm and also from 10-10:50 on Friday before the funeral.
