Ruth Maples

July 5, 1938 — February 13, 2019

Ruth Maples passed away peacefully on February 13, 2019 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ruth was born July 5, 1938, in Laurel Mississippi to Robert Wright and Lena Hamilton. Ruth married Virgil Lawson and they had four sons together. Virgil passed away on March 4, 1982.
Ruth had many jobs over the years. She worked at Taco Time, the Safeway Warehouse, the Floral shop, 7up and Pepsi, and her last job was at Lowes. She loved being a cashier at Lowes where she could interact with those who came through her line. She loved helping others.
Ruth loved Alan Jackson and enjoyed seeing him in concert on several occasions. Ruth also loved to travel and would find a family member or friend to join her on a quick trip to Wendover. Her children remember how much she enjoyed sewing. Her four boys remember wearing handmade clothes when they were young. They have beautiful drapes in their homes that she carefully created for them. Ruth found great joy in spending time with her family and was always spoiling her grandkids.
Ruth is survived by her four sons, John (Kim) Lawson, Jim Lawson, Scott Lawson, Brian Lawson, 8 grandkids, 6 great grandkids, her sister Opal Hanna, and her sister in law Anita Wright.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lena Wright, her husband Virgil Lawson, her siblings Mae, Hazel, Myrtel, Robert, Joseph, Mildred, Roy, and Thelma.
