Ruth Cheney Jensen

Ruth Cheney Jensen passed away May 23, 2016 in Salt Lake City. She was born August 23, 1924 to Aaron and Valera Cheney in Fairview, Utah. She married Dick Meredith Jensen on January 23, 1953.
Ruth was a member of the LDS Church and held many callings in Relief Society, Young Women’s and Primary. She always had a garden and canned many fruits and vegetables and was famous for her dill pickles. She loved flowers and had a beautiful rose garden.
Ruth was an accomplished pianist and organist. She played for church, dances, road shows and special performances. She could play piano by ear and play backwards.
Among her other talents, she had a beautiful voice and sang in a sextet for years. She loved her family and always spent time with them. She was very proud of all her kids and grandkids and always had a jar full of cookies handy. She and Dick tried to always attend sporting events, recitals and birthday parties for their kids and grandkids. Ruth always had a smile and a hug for everyone. She was very independent and always strived to be her best and look her best.
Ruth is survived by her children Brad Jensen (Kathy), Linda Bridwell (Bill), Gerri Cox (Jeff), Brian Jensen (Stacy), 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Darlene Madsen and Glenda Call. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick M. Jensen, son, Jeffrey Lynn Jensen, parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Ruth will be remembered and missed as a mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, friend and neighbor.
We would like to thank the staff of Highland Cove for all of their love and care over the years Ruth lived there.
Funeral Services will be held, Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S Highland Drive. Viewings will be held Wednesday evening at the mortuary from 6-7:30 PM and one hour prior. Interment will be at Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 South Memory Lane (1990 E).
