Ruth Boutsis-Leonard

Ruth Boutsis-Leonard, age 86, passed away on September 7, 2022. She was born on March 19, 1936, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Louis and Margaret. Ruth spent most of her life in Salt Lake City but also lived in Roosevelt, Utah, and spent some time living in the Bay Area in California. Ruth epitomized the values of hard work and love.  She worked hard throughout her life (often at multiple jobs) to support her family and was always willing to go the extra mile to lend help. Ruth was always willing to open her arms to people and treat them like family and once you were one of her “kids” she was unyieldingly protective and loving. She was outspoken and honest, you never had to wonder where you stood with her or what she was thinking.  Ruth got a matching tattoo (her first) with two of her granddaughters at age 70, one of the many examples of her fun, sassy personality. She loved spending time with her family, bowling, fishing, gambling, and baking treats like baklava and Italian wedding cookies with and for her grandkids. Ruth was the foundational rock of her family and she will be dearly missed.
 
She is survived by her children: Lynne (Kevin), David, Holie, Stephanie, and Jerri (Kent), her siblings Erma and Jimmy, and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
 
She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Kay, Helen, Rose, Margie, George, and Jay, and her son Ron.
 
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123.
