Ruth Alzonia Allen

Ruth Alzonia Allen, a long time resident of Salt Lake City, Utah died Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the Sandy Rehab and Healthcare Center.
She was born on March 27, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Hursel Clinton Johnson and Frances Vena Case and was the second of four children – Millie Bell, Frank Johnson, and Jenny Struthers. After Ruth was born, the family moved to Long Beach, California in 1929 where she grew up. She graduated Lynwood Senior High. She completed Business College in Long Beach, California and went on to work as a bookkeeper at various places. She also was a professional drape maker.
Ruth really enjoyed making up her own jokes and telling stories to make people laugh and to make them feel comfortable. She always said she wanted to be a comedian. Other hobbies she enjoyed were genealogy, making bird houses, painting and other crafts. She was a lifetime faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints and held many positions; her favorite being the Choir director and anything involving music. She loved to sing and many wanted her to sing in Church meetings and at funeral services. She even sang voicemail messages to her children at times. Glenn and Ruth served a full-time mission together, serving in the Jacksonville, Florida Mission.
Ruth married Glenn Richard Allen on December 8, 1949 in Long Beach, California and the marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple. They had 6 children. She is survived by 4 children – Jeannette Sapp (Randy), Sharon Taylor, Norma Barlow (Tim) and Stan Allen (Debbie), 16 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren, Her sister, Jenny Struthers, and many nephews and nieces. She was a loving mother Grandmother and Friend. She will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Allen, 2 children, Nancy Allen and Steve Allen, and one grandchild, Amanda Barlow.
Viewing will be held on Sunday August 25, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Valley Park Ward building. 6300 S. 3rd East Murray Utah.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday August 26, 2019 at 12:00 pm, with a viewing and family prayer at 10:00 to 11:30 am at the Valley Park Ward building.
Interment will be held at Memorial Lake Hills Cemetery. 10055 South State Street Sandy Utah.Service Information
