Russell James “Russ” McCormick, age 65, passed away on July 6th, 2020 at his home in Sandy, Utah.
He was born on January 10th, 1955, in Murray, Utah to Billie Mae and Ronald James McCormick. He married his best friend and next door neighbor Lori Jean on June 19th, 1976. They raised 2 children and many cats, a dog, lizards, and fish in their home in Sandy, Utah. Russ worked at Flying J Oil Refinery as a refinery operator and foreman for 31 years before retiring. His favorite hobby was to travel and go on cruises with his family and friends. He loved to go camping and car trips to see national parks or fun new cities. He was an avid coin collector, sci-fi enthusiast, and gardener. He was the happiest person to be around, loved to entertain, and was beloved by family and friends and most especially his 2 grandchildren.
He is Survived by his sweetheart and wife of 44 years, Lori; son Eric McCormick; daughter Ashley (Garrett) Elmer; grandchildren Kylo and Aviana; sister Debbie (Mike) Huntzinger; brother Keith (Sherry) McCormick; brother David (Geri) McCormick; sister Kelly (Robert) White; and many nieces and nephews.
He is Preceded in death by his father Ronald James; mother Billie Mae; and brother Michael.
Graveside services and interment will be at 11:45 AM on Thursday July 9th, 2020 at Memorial Lake Hills Mortuary & Cemetery, 10055 South State Street in Sandy, UT 84070.
