Russell Frei

Russell returned home to his Heavenly Father on February 12, 2025, where he was greeted by his Eternal Companion, Jeralyn.

He was born on September 5, 1949, in St. George, Utah to LeGrand and Joey Frei. He grew up in Santa Clara working alongside his dad and siblings on the family farm. He graduated from Dixie High School in 1968.

He married his sweetheart, Jeralyn Green, on August 27, 1971 in the St. George temple. They were blessed with 6 children.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as a ward clerk for longer than any of us can remember.

After working for Huish Detergents for over 20 years he retired in 2007, due to the progression of his Parkinson’s Disease.

Russ was an avid sports fan. He loved going to his grandkids’ sporting events. He especially loved watching a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game.

After Jeralyn passed, he moved to Vernal, Utah to live with his daughter and son-in-law. After his Parkinson’s Disease advanced, he was eventually moved to the Uintah Care Center in Vernal, where he resided until he passed.

He is survived by his children, Brandon (Mandy) Frei, Jake (Jennifer) Frei, Alecia Treaster, Heather (Greg) Jensen, 16 grandchildren and spouses, 6 great-grandchildren, and his siblings, Keith Frei, Debbie (Lyman) Hafen, and Nick (Liisa) Frei.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jeralyn, children Heidi and Josh, son-in-law Greg Treaster, grandchildren Markelle, Tafton and Ashlynn Frei, siblings Kim and Susan Frei.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Uintah Care Center Staff for putting up with the teasing and tormenting that Russ dished out the last several years. 

Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, February 19th at 11am at Mountain View Memorial Mortuary located at 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121. A one-hour viewing will be held prior to the funeral service at the same location.
