Rulon Jan Waite

October 14, 1942 — February 22, 2019

When you read these few paragraphs you will know that after 76 years I have been invited to pass through the veil to my next phase of life. My few years here on earth have been a marvelous learning experience for which I am eternally grateful to God, Our Heavenly Father, His Son the Lord Jesus Christ, and to the Holy Ghost the great Comforter. I am also grateful for the privilege of being married to an angel-in-waiting, my dear sweetheart Marjorie Karen Anderson Waite. We were married and sealed to each other on Friday, 12 June 1970 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together we are blessed with six children and their families: Rulon and Leslie; Scott; Paul and Jamie; David and Heather with Lauren, Carson and Sawyer; Kimberly and Paul with Caillou, Trinity, and Dominic; Karie and Shelby with Kelby, Kalila, and Kiersten.
My parents, Rulon Winton Waite and Oralie Bailey, provided me with a loving and excellent preparation which began on Thursday, 14 October 1942 in Logan, Utah. Beautiful Cache Valley is the home of my Waite and Bailey heritage. This heritage is shared by my brothers and sisters and their families: Richard and Louanna, Robert, Robert and Rula, Marilee Ann, and Ronald and Patricia.
My blessings, which are many, include service to the Lord with the thousands of friends I have made through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, my friends in Kaysville and Taylorsville, Utah and other places where I have lived, teachers and fellow students of the Davis School District, Utah State University, and the University of Utah, my acquaintances in the United States Air Force, and my colleagues at the office building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I have enjoyed many great experiences with my dear wife and our six wonderful children: by studying the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ in the scriptures, by serving in several callings in the Church – the most recent being an ordinance worker in the Jordan River temple, by listening to and participating in instrumental and choral music, by participating in spectator sports, and by the process of life-long learning. I am thankful that I have been able to visit most of the United States, many of the Canadian provinces, Australia and many countries in Europe. I am thankful to have lived during the great electronic transition era, which has brought to me greater knowledge and understanding of people, events, and many topics.
I am so thankful the Lord has helped me through many difficult situations in my life; especially He has helped me through my most recent leukemia disease because of the ministering and loving care of my wife, family, and friends. I express deep appreciation the care givers from the LDS Hospital, especially to Dr. Andy Nguyen and the nursing staff. May the Lord continue to bless us all as we prepare to meet again in our next phase of life.
My viewing will be held at Redwood Memorial Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah, Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 6-8 pm and just before the funeral from 9:45-10:45 am. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 1, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Cedar Breaks Ward, 5635 South 2200 West, Taylorsville, Utah. Internment at the Redwood Memorial Cemetery will occur immediately afterward.
