Ruben Josue Alba

It is with great sadness that the family of Ruben Josue Alba announces his passing after a tragic car accident, on March 29, 2018, at the age of 44 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his family, his father Rolando Alba, his siblings R. Xavier Alba (Laila), Oscar (Tracey), Hayde Alba-Harris (Jeff), Susie Alba Dueñas (Jorge) and his nieces and nephews. He preceded his loving mother Josefina Casares-Alba in death by four days.
Josh, as his family called him, was born on May 31, 1973. He was the youngest child. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and raised in Midvale, Utah. He attended East Midvale Elementary, Union Middle School and graduated from Hillcrest High School. He was a student of life. Josh’s greatest gift was giving to others unselfishly, a gift he inherited from his Mom. Though he had little to give materially, he would give everything freely and generously; his time, his talents and his kindness to those who he found in need. He loved working outdoors and most recently worked with a landscaping company where he enjoyed working with his hands to create beautiful spaces. His favorite pastime was taking pictures of the sky, clouds, and sun, especially at sunset. He had a creative eye as he looked to the heavens for meaning and connection and would share his pictures and thoughts, always pointing out the contrast between light and dark.
Josh often confronted the challenges of navigating between the light and shadows of this life. Though he was often met by opposition, recently Josh found purpose and a desire to move forward and to do what he always wanted to accomplish; make his Mother happy. He wanted more than anything to prove to her he was capable of achieving his personal goals. He loved his Mom very much and was struggling to see her nearing the end of her life after a 24 year battle with breast cancer. Josh was feeling motivated and encouraged by the many friends and family who were supporting him, but sadly his progress was cut short here on earth. We believe that now his progression can continue without the burdens of this life and continue on with the love and protection of his Mom, the way only a Mother can give, in that we take great comfort and peace.
His life will be memorialized Friday, April 6, 2018 with a gathering from 7:00-7:30 PM, and a memorial service from 7:30-8:30 at Memorial Murray Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah.
