Roy returned home May 2, 2015. He was born in Salt Lake City, April 1, 1944 to Roy and Grace Young. He was the oldest of 7 children Blaine, Lynn, Steve, Elaine, Kay and Denise. Roy grew up in Chesterfield. He spent his youth playing in the river and running in the fields. He had a one of a kind infectious laugh. He enjoyed music, playing with his grandkids and family time. He also loved to go fishing. Roy had a sweet tooth and loved the sweet things in life, including Sherry, whom he loved for the last 20 years.
Roy passed away from complications due to pneumonia. He is survived by his longtime love Sherry Hoggard; sons, Alan and Brandon Young and daughters, Dovie, Jodie and Kara. As well as step children, Troy (Elaina), Terrie and Lorie (Brice); 26 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, May 7, 2015 at Redwood Memorial, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT. Viewings will be held from 6-8:00 pm on Wednesday evening and one hour prior to the services. Interment to follow.
When his granddaughter was asked what her favorite thing in life was, she replied “My grandpa.”
