Roy William Diederich

June 20, 1940 — May 10, 2021

Roy William Diederich, (80) passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was born June 20th, 1940, to John William Diederich and Johanna (Jane) Pautsch. He was born and raised in Salt Lake City and was the youngest of three children.
Dad graduated from South High School in 1958. He attended the U of U for a short time before joining the Army. After returning from his service, he worked for Zinick’s Sporting Goods, where he met and later married the love of his life, Diana Kay Judy. They were married on August 23rd, 1964, and together had four children. Raising and providing for them was their life’s work.
Some of his favorite things to do were to go hunting and fishing. Even though he never shot anything ever, he made it a priority to plan the annual guy’s only trip to the cabin for bonding, good food, and time away. Roy loved to travel, and you could find him on a cruise ship any chance he got. Traveling with his wife, kids and grandkids was always his favorite.
Roy was an entrepreneur and found success and happiness in doing his own thing. He owned and operated Wild West Distributing, a new release video company, and took pride in creating a business that provided jobs for many families.
He had a passion for cars and worked hard to put a new one in the driveway every year. His passion eventually turned into a business. He obtained his dealer’s license and always loved to travel to California on buying trips with his boys.
Dad loved being in the mountains. At an early age, he pinched his pennies to save and build a cabin in Weber canyon by Smith and Morehouse Reservoir. The cabin became our family’s favorite weekend getaway. His Kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids have all spent time building bonds, riding ATVs, fishing, and going on walks at the cabin. Many memories and traditions were made with family and friends.
Roy is survived by his wife, Diana Kay Judy, and his four Children Heidi (Brian) Edwards of Lehi, Dawn (David) Phillips of Lehi, Scott (Becky) Diederich of Taylorsville, and Chad (Britnie) Diederich of Lehi. He had 16 grandkids and 13 great-grandkids, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister, Nancy Smith, and his brother Robert (Bob) Diederich. He will be missed greatly.
