West Jordan, UT – Roy Lewis Chambers 56, passed away on May 5th, 2015. He left this world peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones after battling pancreatic cancer for 11 months. Roy was born on September 11th, 1958 to Jerry and Lois Chambers in Seattle, WA. He graduated from Rainer Beach High in 1976 where he made lifelong friends. After two semesters at BYU, Roy converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at age 18. He began working for Boeing in 1978. He married his adoring wife of 35 years, Merrie, on August 9th, 1979. Roy was the coolest father to three doting daughters. He went on field trips, helped with homework, interrogated prospective suitors and some didn’t make Raymundo’s cut! The Chambers’ home was a refuge for many friends and family, the door and his big heart were always welcoming. In 2007 he transferred to the Mesa, AZ Boeing plant and retired in October of 2013 after 36 years of service at age 55. He has a Boeing family; he made it a point to go out to lunch almost every day to escape from the busyness, enjoy the company of his work friends and honestly, Roy really loved lunch! We solute you, McRib for all of the joy you brought to our dear Roy Boy. He was a man of service, charisma, silly nick names, an Elvis enthusiast, lover of Cadillacs and all cars – his dream was to own every make and model, but since he never won his millions in the lottery, he settled for collecting Hot Wheels cars! When his three grandsons came along, Roy chose to be called Pop Pops because he was too young for “Grandpa”. He spoiled them with Hot Wheels cars from the bargain bin, read them stories and couldn’t wait to teach them everything he knew. He loved his family and his friends became family instantaneously. His charm and wit were contagious and made an impact on all that he met.
Roy is survived by his loving Wife, Merrie; Daughters, Katelyn, Krystle and Kim (Paul); Grandchildren, Henry, Aiden and Oliver; Honorary Daughter, Laurissa; Foster Son, Ian; Mother, Lois and Sister, Jerri (Mitch). He is preceded in death by his Father, Jerry.
