Rose-Marie Utley

Our beautiful mother, wife, grandmother and sister returned home to her Heavenly Father after a courageous battle with cancer.  Rose-Marie was born May 1, 1941 in Switzerland.  Her family immigrated to Canada in 1950. They later moved to Kankakee, Illinois, where she met and married John Burton.  Together they had 6 daughters.  Later divorced. She met and married the love of her life Lynn Utley on April 7, 1995. For 24 years they shared a beautiful partnership rarely found, that included anything outdoors as long as they were together. She was an accomplished musician, including the violin and piano.  She had a great love for music. One of her favorite past times was being outdoors and tending to her beautiful garden. She was the perfect example of selfless generosity and thoughtfulness.  She had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved, making every grandchild feel they were her favorite.  She loved family get-togethers.  Known for her sarcasm and wit and “taking no shit”!  She was fiercely competitive at cards, or as we like to call her “cheater”. Employed by the USPS as a mail carrier for 20 years, were she was loved by many and known for her exemplary work ethic. She is survived by her husband Lynn;  children Sherry, Robin, Cassandra (Chris), April, Mitzi and Rachel, Roy, Lance(Jen), Monica;  13 grandchildren, Ashly, Autumn, Amber, Courtney, Jazmin, Connor, Logan, Gabriela, Mia, Sadie, Jessie, Kaylee, Austin;  13 great-grandchildren;  three sisters, Marguerite, Violet (Rick), Edee along with several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Marquerite Jost. A special thank you to CNS Hospice Services for the tender loving care they showed.  To Thelma, the “lavender lady”, thanks for “showing her the way home”.  Special thanks also to her nurse Susan.  Funeral Services will be Tuesday, April 5th at 11:00 a.m., the LDS church, 10600 S. 949 E., Sandy.  Friends and family may visit on Monday, April 4th from 6-8 pm at 3115 E. 7800 S.(Bengal Blvd)and from 9:45 to 10:45 at the LDS church on Tuesday, April  5th.  Interment at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery.
