Roselle Judkins

August 26, 1912 — December 29, 2015

Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children on December 29, 2015. Roselle was the 8th of 12 children born to Otto Ren Stewart and Millicent Tollestrup on the family farm in Benjamin, Utah, on August 26, 1912. She married Reed Berrett Judkins on June 10, 1932.Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised 6 children and 2 nieces, Kelly and Aurora Gallagher.
Roselle centered her life around her family. Her home was the gathering place for the holidays, Sunday dinners and for anyone who needed her. When she cooked, she would always triple or quadruple the recipe, making sure that no one ever left her house hungry. She was always willing to tend her grandkids. She ran hundreds of carpools, hosted thousands of sleepovers and attended every game, meet, and recital that she could – and she always brought treats. Her home was a refuge from the world, where all who entered felt welcomed, loved and accepted without judgment. When her husband died in 1975, she made an apartment in her basement and extended a rent-free invitation for over 25 married grandkids that needed help getting started.
She was graced with beauty, a happy disposition, and a strong body. She had a sincere testimony and lived her life according to the gospel of Jesus Christ. She had a deep appreciation for beauty in nature and art. She expressed her talents in the hundreds of flower arrangements she made for friends and family, dried with the sand of the Great Salt Lake and preserved forever under her ubiquitous glass domes. She was creative, generous, loving and had a wonderful sense of humor. She spent her life serving those around her, without expectation or complaint. Because of this, she was deeply loved and valued by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her brother, Walter T. Stewart (98 years old), her daughters, Jill Judkins, Jean Bentley (Frank), and her sons, Kent Judkins (Pat), Ren Judkins (Lani Lee), as well as her 190 descendants. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reed B. Judkins, her daughter, Joan Vranes, her son Bary Judkins, a granddaughter, Jennifer Judkins, a great-great grandson, Jerry Ivan Judkins and 10 brothers and sisters.
