Rose Margaret Roybal Lobato Humes, our Mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, was loved by all and passed away peacefully on November 1, 2020 in West Valley City, Utah. She was born on September 1, 1926 in Fruita, Colorado to Filiberto and Catalina Roybal. She spent her early years in Fruita and later resided in Price, Utah and Kearns, Utah. She was one of fourteen children and the mother to eight children. She was married to Leonard Lobato for twenty-nine years and later divorced. In 1975, she married Donald Humes and had forty wonderful years of unending love. Don preceded her in death in 2015. Our Mother’s role in life was that of parent, grandmother, and mother to her younger siblings. She never tired of caring for kids and often said, “My kids are my greatest accomplishment.”
She is survived by children Richard (Libbie) Lobato, daughter-in-law Carol Lobato, Catherine (Terry) Camac, William Lobato, Robert Lobato, James Lobato, and stepchildren Bernie, Todd, and Suzy Humes. She had fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her children Margaret Ann Martinez and son-in-law Luis Martinez, Dale Lobato, and Leonora Barela. She is survived by siblings Febronia Ross, Daniel Roybal, Edna Thompson, and Betty Crovello. Preceded by her siblings Lucy Naranjo, Delfie Bernier, David Roybal, Della Smith, Stella Fry, Josephine Ragsdale, Esther Lysaght, Robert Roybal, and Gerald Roybal. She had many special nieces and nephews. She is loved and revered by all family members and will be deeply missed by her extended family. The large Roybal family has lost their irreplaceable “Aunt Bo”.
Our mother’s entire life was dominated by her endless love for and care of her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She never seemed to tire or shy away from providing care for the little ones. She truly missed her large family over the past five years and always wanted to “go back home”. The pandemic took a huge toll on her by removing familial access and their ability to spend quality time with her. We will miss our beautiful Mother forever and thank God for giving us this wonderful, loving, and supportive role model to share with the world.
We would like to thank the entire staff of Rocky Mountain Care – Hunter Hollow for their wonderful love and care of our mother for the past six years.
Due to the pandemic, private family services were held November 10, 2020. Arrangements under the direction of Memorial Utah.Service Information
