Rose Kiholm Pond, a day short of 101, of Sandy, Utah, was a wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, title search processer, and credit card analyst retiring at the age 80, passed away on April 13, 2016 in Salt Lake City. Rose was born April 14, 1915 in Shelley, Bannock, Idaho to James P. and Eleanor Louise Kiholm. Rose grew up in Shelley; she met her future husband, Roland Pond, in Fairfield, Idaho where they lived when they got married. After a brief stint in Vancouver, Washington during the Second World War, they returned to Fairfield where they raised four boys. They lived briefly in Antioch, California in 1955, but moved back to the farm in Idaho. Leaving the farm for good in 1957, Rose and Roland Pond made their home in Murray, Utah. The Salt Lake Valley was home for Rose except for a few years when she moved to Phoenix, AZ. Rose attended Shelley, Idaho schools and graduated from high school there. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting in her later years and many of her descendants have something she made. Rose was a determined lady, and a great champion of her four sons and the families that followed. She lived on her own, independently, until one week before she passed away. Her descendants honored her with a special birthday party on her 100th birthday. After Rose’s eternal companion, Roland Pond passed away in 1980, she continued to nurture her descendants; oh how she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rose didn’t want to be the last of her siblings to be called home, but that became her lot. She has lived a very full and beautiful life. She was preceded in passing by parents and siblings, Lila, Leo, Viola, Helen, Addie, Francis, and Alvin. Rose is survived by her four boys, Lamar (Denise), Glenn (Bonnie), Dewayne (Heidi), and Louis (Mary) along with 23 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, and 9 great, great grandchildren. Oh how she will be missed. We love you Mom. The services will be held at 11 am on Monday April 18, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 10885 S. Pampas Dr., Sandy, Utah. A viewing, at the same address, will be held at 9 am prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow the service at Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
